What is an affinity group?
Webster’s Dictionary defines an affinity group as a group of people having a common interest or goal or acting together for a specific purpose. It also uses the term kinship. Anne of Green Gables would use the term Kindred Spirits.
When was the last time you met someone who was a kindred spirit, let alone a group of people who all got together simply because you all enjoyed doing the same thing together? Have you ever thought “Wouldn’t it be nice if I knew of someone with whom I could do this with?” Whether that something is, biking, running, scrapbooking, really any hobby of any kind.
Why Do An Affinity Group?
When you love doing something, this makes getting together that much more enjoyable. An Affinity Group is a great way to not only meet new friends with a common interest, but it’s a great way to bring your non-churched friends into a non-threatening church setting.
