Spring Projects – it seems to me that we have a good opportunity to add some upgrades to our facility and extend the life of a well used campus. By putting a sports floor on the concrete gym floor we add safety, usability, aesthetics, and bring new life to an area of the church that is used by many different groups. Anyone who has stayed over at MCA for an allnighter, or is involved with children or youth ministry knows the value of having a shower in the facility, for emergency or hygienic purposes – I know one shower doesn’t service a large group, but it does better equip us on site. Many groups and people use our Mission Creek Room regularly. It is probably the most used room in the facility both for MCA ministry activities and groups from the community. We’ll have to figure out what the best option for floor covering in that room will be, but certainly we have to consider things like: warm feel, surface good for young children and adults, food events, receptions, meetings, sound considerations, maintenance…. The most expensive piece of the projects will be resealing the parking lot, and it would seem to have the least immediate effect on facilitating ministry. It is one of those; “if you take care of it, the money invested now will save us in the long run” kind of items.
One or more of these project items will resonate with you, depending on your participation, your life stage, or ministry interest. The $57000 price tag is not onerous, but it is a significant sum. Our desire to ensure our regular giving isn’t diverted to these projects, but to offer the opportunity for special gifts for completion of the projects. We’ll complete each item as the money comes in, and we’ll update the progress as the spring progresses. (if you want to give, mark an envelope “Spring Projects”)
I think we could finish this off quickly, and I am excited to see us complete these items and then move our attention to other opportunities.
