I sure hope BC residents are going to vote today. I am watching people drive up to the church to participate in our provincial election. I know there are a million excuses not to, but do it. There’s nobody to harass you – in fact when I rode my bike up to the polling station I was greeted in a friendly way & they even watched over my bike while I went to the appointed station. This is a far cry from many places around the globe that struggle during elections.  I was thinking; this is Bike to Work Week, perhaps we should have had Bike to Vote, I don’t know whether that would help or hurt the process. I like to choose, and this is one way, actually two choices at this pole, to engage in the process. There are so few things that are under our control, even though we’d like to believe we can control people, and stuff, and events,…I think we even try to control God (in subtle ways) occasionally. We’ve been given the power to choose, there’s a spiritual lesson in that, choose well

Speaking of choices…my oldest son Kyle has made a great choice – he chose to marry Jalen (she chose him too). May 9th was a celebration time at Kyle & Jalen’s wedding in Tswwassen. It’s a bit surreal to watch your children get married. It is also vastly different, for me anyway, to “give away” your daughter in marriage, compared to your son getting married. I’ll have to unpack that more sometime, I’ve been analyzing the aspects of that process and relationship. I believe I am more appreciative of the effort and support of the people that attend, help and whatever at my children’s weddings than I was at my own wedding. Now you may say, “well you were just in a daze anyway” – perhaps that was true on some levels. But I also see now how the community of people that have surrounded these two young adults have shaped them, and carried them to that day. Sandy and I didn’t and couldn’t do it without you. Woohooo, thank you Lord!

In case you are wondering, we are 1/3 of the way to financing the gym floor, and then moving on to other spring projects…and of course its ball season, and cherry season is only a couple months away.
